The brief
The owners wanted a kitchen that felt continuous with the living room while accommodating real cooking — full induction range, dual-zone wine fridge, and an island that could seat four. Layout constraints: a structural column the developer left in the middle of the open plan, and a south-facing window we didn't want to block.
Process highlights
We hid the structural column inside a custom millwork pier, treating it as a design feature rather than an obstacle. The marble island floats off the floor on hidden steel supports — visually lighter than a base cabinet, structurally identical. Brass push-to-open mechanisms throughout; no hardware visible on the front fascia.
